Additional points

Job offers earn no CRS points until 3 November 2026. From that date, job offers in high-wage occupations earn points again, and this calculator will add them.

This independent calculator is not affiliated with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). It follows IRCC's published CRS criteria and was checked against IRCC's official tool on 26 test profiles on 18 October 2026. Your official score is the one in your Express Entry profile.

Language scores are converted to CLB/NCLC levels using IRCC's language test equivalency charts. Test results must be less than two years old.

How your CRS score is calculated

The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) gives every Express Entry candidate a score out of 1,200. IRCC invites the highest-ranked candidates in the pool to apply for permanent residence in regular rounds of invitations. Your score comes from four sections:

Section What it covers Max, single Max, with spouse
A. Core / human capital Age, education, official languages, Canadian work experience 500 460
B. Spouse or partner Your spouse's education, language and Canadian work 0 40
C. Skill transferability Combinations of education, language, foreign work, Canadian work and trade certificates 100 100
D. Additional points Provincial nomination, French, Canadian education, a brother or sister in Canada 600 600
Total 1,200 1,200

Your spouse's details only count if your spouse is coming with you to Canada and is not already a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. Otherwise you are scored as a single applicant, which gives slightly more points for age, education and language.

The changes that raise a CRS score most

The calculator's "What would raise your score" box runs these changes on your own answers, so you can see the exact gain for your profile.

Rule changes on 3 November 2026

IRCC announced on 16 October 2026 that from 3 November 2026:

IRCC lists 186 high-wage occupations by NOC code. Existing profiles will be recalculated, which IRCC says could take up to two weeks, and invitation rounds will pause during that time. This calculator uses the current grid. We will add the new points when they take effect and test them against IRCC's updated tool. Source: IRCC, Changes to Express Entry for high-wage occupations.

How this calculator is checked

We entered 26 test profiles into IRCC's official CRS tool on 18 October 2026. They cover age limits, married and single applicants, Canadian education and work, mixed language scores, trade certificates, French, provincial nomination and the 100-point transferability cap. All 26 scores from this calculator matched IRCC's exactly. See every test profile and result.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the official IRCC calculator?

No. This is an independent calculator that follows IRCC's published CRS criteria. The official tool is on canada.ca, and your official score is the one shown in your Express Entry profile.

How accurate is this CRS calculator?

It uses the points grid from IRCC's CRS criteria page and gave the same score as IRCC's tool on all 26 test profiles we checked. Your result depends on entering your details exactly as they will appear in your profile.

Do job offers give CRS points?

Not until 3 November 2026. IRCC removed job offer points on 25 March 2025. From 3 November 2026, qualifying job offers in high-wage occupations earn 50, 70 or 100 points, with no LMIA needed. This calculator will add them when the new rules take effect.

Which language test scores can I enter?

You can enter IELTS General Training, CELPIP-General and TEF Canada scores directly. For other tests, such as PTE Core or TCF Canada, convert your scores to CLB or NCLC levels with IRCC's language test equivalency charts and choose "I know my CLB levels" or "I know my NCLC levels". Results must be less than two years old.

Does my spouse lower my CRS score?

If your spouse comes with you, your own maximum core points drop from 500 to 460, but your spouse can add up to 40 points for their education, language and Canadian work. Use the "Who should be the main applicant?" option in the calculator to compare both ways.

Does a foreign degree count?

Yes, if you have an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) from an approved organization, issued in the last five years. Canadian degrees, diplomas and certificates don't need an ECA.
