How Express Entry draws work

In each round of invitations, IRCC sets which candidates are eligible (a program, a category, or everyone in the pool) and how many invitations it will send. It then invites the highest-ranked eligible candidates by CRS score. The score of the last person invited becomes that round's cut-off.

There were no all-program draws in the rounds listed on this page. Candidates without Canadian work experience, French or a nomination have mostly relied on category-based draws or a provincial nomination.

Rule changes on 3 November 2026

From 3 November 2026, IRCC adds points for job offers and Canadian work experience in high-wage occupations. IRCC has said it will pause invitation rounds while it recalculates profiles, which could take up to two weeks. Cut-offs after the change may not be comparable with earlier ones. We will mark the change in the table.

Frequently asked questions

How often are Express Entry draws held?

Between 20 Feb 2026 and 16 Oct 2026, IRCC held 53 rounds of invitations. They often come in groups within the same week, for example a Provincial Nominee Program draw, a Canadian Experience Class draw and a category-based draw. IRCC doesn't publish a fixed schedule.

What does the CRS cut-off mean?

It is the CRS score of the lowest-ranked candidate invited in that round. Everyone above it in the eligible group was invited. Candidates exactly at the cut-off were invited only if they submitted their profile before the tie-breaking date and time IRCC set for that round.

Why are Provincial Nominee Program cut-offs so high?

A provincial nomination adds 600 points, so PNP draw cut-offs include those 600 points. A PNP cut-off of 772 means the lowest invited candidate had 172 points before the nomination.

If my score is above the last cut-off, will I get an invitation?

Not necessarily. Cut-offs change from round to round depending on how many invitations IRCC issues and who is in the pool. You also need to be eligible for the program or category of that round. Use past cut-offs as a guide, not a promise.

Will draws continue after 3 November 2026?

IRCC has said it will pause invitation rounds while it recalculates profiles for the new high-wage points, which could take up to two weeks. Cut-offs may change once the new points apply.
